Design Work Has Resumed at John Marshall, Reaches 50%

Due to consolidation within the Wausau School District, referendum work at John Marshall Elementary School was temporarily put on hold.  Now, that consolidation has been completed, planning has resumed and plans are in place to begin construction in the Summer of 2026.

The 50% design milestone outlines upgrades focused on safety, accessibility, and modernization. Recent design meetings have included input from district staff, leadership, and city partners to finalize plans for:

  • Secure front entrance and ADA upgrades.

  • North parking lot expansion, new bus loop, and walking path.

  • Roofing, lighting, and ceiling replacements; medium and light renovations throughout.

  • New HVAC, generator, and electrical enhancements for comfort and security.

Design Work Paused at John Marshall Elementary

While design work at John Marshall Elementary reached the 50% milestone, it has been put on hold for a year. To date, the design and user group teams worked to improve entrance security.
