Wausau School District celebrated the completion of its new Environmental Learning Center, thanking donors and community members for supporting their vision of bringing the environment into the classroom.

Exterior metal wall and majority of metal roofing has been installed
Exterior insulation and masonry work is complete and work on siding is well underway
Interior work continues with gypsum board installation and finishing nearing completion

Construction Begins on NEW Environmental Learning Center
Groundbreaking Ceremony
On Monday, December 5th Wausau School District leaders broke ground on the new environmental learning center that will replace the Red Lodge at School Forest.
There is a lot of excitement around this new learning space, which includes a view of the river, a donated sculpture, a museum, and an amphitheater.
As the District and Community continue to move forward together, Leaders expect this project to be completed over the next year, and are excited about the opportunities the new center will offer Wausau students.

95% Design Update
The Environmental Learning Center is nearing completion and is designed to bring nature inside, with warm colors and a lodge look. There continues to be a lot of excitement around this new learning space, including a view of the river, a donated sculpure, and potential 122-seat amphitheater (donor pending). The Environmental Learning Center at School Forest is halfway through the design process and, after weeks of design and user group meetings, there is a lot of excitement around this new learning space.
