Hawthorn Hills Permanently Closed
Some of the referendum work at Hawthorn Hills Elementary was completed before the recommendation to permanently close the school was announced. For details, see the list of projects and their status below:
Completed projects included: secure entrance, fire alarm upgrade, emergency power generator replacement, and ADA upgrades.
Cancelled projects included: update to parking lot and a new road for student pick-up and drop-off.
Design Work is 50% Complete at Hawthorn Hills
The Hawthorn Hills Design is halfway through the process and has included an additional perspective — municipal insight. Work at this site involves partnering with the city for approval on road work to improve student pickup and dropoff. As seen on the site plan the new road connects Washington and Kickbusch streets, and improves site safety.
